SUBSIDIZED HOUSING PROPERTIES
Common Ground
Common Ground is a 23-unit apartment building, centrally located, offering 1 and 2-bedroom suites. Built in 1997, the building has been regularly maintained and has energy efficient appliances. All tenants in Common Ground have either a brain injury or a serious, persistent mental health condition. Access to housing in this building is available through a Mental Health Case Manager referral only.
Abbott Towers
Abbott Towers offers 97 suites for low-income seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. Originally opened in 1985, the building is currently under complete renovation and will have energy efficient windows, heat pumps and appliances. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Okanagan Lake, and has a public transit stop directly across the street. This building is a non-smoking building and pets are not permitted.
Columbus Park (Family Building)
Columbus Park offers 42 suites for low-income families, with 2 to 4-bedroom options. The units have been maintained regularly and have energy efficient features. Situated on a four-acre property on the south side of Penticton, the complex features two fenced playgrounds, is within walking distance of two schools and shopping with public transit close-by. This property is a no-pet property.
Columbus Place
Located in Naramata, Columbus Place offers four, 1-bedroom apartments for seniors and individuals with disabilities. The apartments are wheelchair accessible. This property is a non-smoking property and pets are not permitted.
The Brain Injury Society partners with B.C. Housing and other resources to support individuals who find themselves homeless.
HOMELESS OUTREACH
Our services are available to all Canadian citizens. Our Homeless Outreach and Homelessness Prevention Program provides direct, flexible, and client-centered services to all Canadian citizens, including individuals, couples, families, and seniors who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.
Our program offers assistance with housing searches, help in securing income support, such as income assistance, and accompanying individuals to appointments. Additioanlly, other connections to support services, such as, life skills training and healthcare supports are available. And in some cases, we act as a landlord/tenant liaison.
Mental Health Housing Program
In British Columbia, individuals with chronic and persistent mental health conditions are often disproportionately affected by homelessness or precarious housing, and many face barriers in accessing the housing and support they need. Our services are available exclusively through referrals from Interior Health/Mental Health Services.

Our Mental Health Housing Program offers comprehensive support, which includes, advocacy for individuals’ needs, access to community resources and supports, referrals for mental health and addiction treatment, assistance with illness and symptom management, relocation services for housing support, financial subsidies to help with living costs, and life skills support such as home management and budgeting.
This program aims to empower individuals with the tools and resources needed for stability and well-being.
